As Paris Fashion Week’s end rapidly approaches, Colm Dillane’s highly-anticipated KidSuper show triggers mayhem outside the Casino de Paris. Hundreds of well-dressed people line the street, pushing and shoving each other to catch a glimpse of the entrance.
Fresh off the back of co-creating Louis Vuitton’s presentation on Thursday, it was Colm’s time to shine independently; trying something which Paris Fashion Week has never seen before.
The show’s format was straightforward; host Tyra Banks introduced 9 guests, all of which were performers who naturally wouldn’t step anywhere near the world of fashion, let alone a runway of sorts.
They all donned KidSuper from head to toe, cracking outrageous jokes which shocked, entertained and stunned the crowd. There were highlights from slow-speaking American podcaster Theo Von and legendary roast-master Jeff Ross.
Andrew Schulz stole the show, however, choosing to run with an Alexander Wang theme which I can only imagine will make his planned PR comeback in 2023 a whole lot harder. The spectacle took attention away from the collection itself, but the press they receive off of this stunt will compensate that.
As I walked out of the show’s after party - at which Kodak Black and Roddy Rich both did private performances - one of Dillane’s team members was nervously checking Vogue’s review of the show.
I asked her what she thought, and she replied with a wry smile:
‘Both awful and great.’
Colm Dillane’s super power is that he can make anyone believe in him, and above all - he believes wholeheartedly in himself.
He used to sell his t-shirts on the curb outside the flagship Louis Vuitton store in Manhattan.
Now; he sells them inside the store.
2023 has very big things in store for Colm Dillane.
