Ferragamo Collaborates with Porsche for the 40th Anniversary of Porsche Italia

"For Porsche Italia’s 40th anniversary, the Italian house ditches the runway in favour of a blue-lacquered Carrera 4 GTS and Taycan"

What happens when a Florence atelier meets German engineering? Apparently, a sports car in the same colour as a luxury handbag.

To celebrate forty years of Porsche Italia, Ferragamo has traded the runway for the test track, customising a 911 Carrera 4 GTS and a Taycan 4 S. Both cars come from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and will be sold only in Italy.

Ferragamo calls the shade Blusogno, a deep navy that leans violet when sunlight falls at the right angle; and first seen on ready-to-wear and the Hug bag, it now washes over the cars aluminium panels. White pinstripes on the body and wheels on the outline, while the Porsche crest picks up Ferragamo red. Even the car cover arrives in matching blue with contrast piping, like outerwear for a coupé.

If this feels like fashion turning serious, that is the point. Ferragamo leans on the legend of Salvatore, the Hollywood-favoured shoemaker who returned to Florence in 1927. Porsche counters with Ferry, who drew the 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster in 1948. Two personal obsessions grew into global brands; the birthday cars repay that ambition in paint, leather and stitching.

Inside the 911, white piping traces seat bolsters and door cards, Blusogno leather wraps the steering wheel and a key pouch matches the trim; the trim finish looking closer to a bespoke bag than a standard motor car interior.

Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur division will handle the limited production. Collectors gain a rolling keepsake, fashion clients gain a new way into the marque and Ferragamo secures a fresh canvas without making an extra handbag.

Birthday tributes often rely on fireworks. This one values restraint, trusting a blue to carry the celebration: Florence supplies the hue, Stuttgart supplies the horsepower, and Italy’s sports-car clientele receives a rolling memo that luxury still rewards those who notice details.
