Nigerian-born East Londoner Azekel is dissecting the multifacetedness of love and contemporary masculinity in new single ‘Palm Wine Dreamz’ featuring Kojey Radical and anaiis.

The dreamy subtleties of Azekel’s production provide the perfect backdrop for the honest and reflective lyrics in which he explores love in romance, parenthood, kinship and community, as well as the complexities of contemporary masculinity⁠—simultaneously strong and tender, proud and humble, expressive and restrained. The singer-songwriter-producer explains that “[as] men, we often don’t talk openly about love,” so ‘Palm Wine Dreamz’ is in fact an open letter to himself and others.

With a genre-transcending sound that has been co-signed by the likes of Prince and Nile Rogers and music functioning as a vessel for his deep introspection, Azekel is clearly setting the tone as an essential voice in British R&B.
