Atlanta-Based Gambian Artist Yanó Rude Shares Debut Single "Unconscious"

Emerging artist,Yanó Rude, has unveiled his highly-awaited debut single titled, 'Unconscious'. With music intrinsic to his upbringing, Yanó was surrounded by the sounds of West African greats like Youssou N’dour to reggae legends like Beres Hammond and has a deep understanding of what it means to be an artist shaped by Afrobeats, with smooth vocals and a large serving of African influence in his sound.

Informed partly by the UK scene and US hip-hop, Yanó fuses the two together naturally, sounding like a collision between J Hus, Burna Boy and PARTYNEXTDOOR - The Gambian native serves as another example of the talent and creativity of artists fusing African influences into their sounds. ‘Unconscious’ is an impressive debut release, a soaring track combining hip-hop and afro-pop feeling memorable yet timeless: "The feelings surrounding this record was recognizing the conflict of interest and how problems become a slippery slope in the absence of communication,” Yanó explains. "The tempo and catchiness mixed with the afro-pop elements makes it an unorthodox tune that I’m cool with,” he continues.

This single is a representation of the instinctive way Yanó can easily blur the lines, showcasing “versatility and not conforming to any genre or sound," something that is abundantly clear in debut EP ‘Kalashion’.
