Jhené Aiko Gifts Us New Album "Chilombo"
Jhené Aiko finally returns with her highly anticipated 3rd studio album.
First kicking it off with a string of singles including "Triggered (Freestyle)", "None Of Your Concern" and "P*$$y Fairy (OTW)" that would be later featured on the album, the LA singer set the pace for a euphoric project.
Consisting of 20 tracks, Chilombo calls on guest appearances from the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, John Legend, Nas, Ab-Soul, H.E.R and more. The latter feature seemingly already going down a treat, racking up the most streams out of the new songs.
An interesting feat that OG fans of the Slauson songbird would have quickly caught onto is the rework of her early single "Hoe" which sampled Miguel. The original was included on her 2011 mixtape Sailing Soul(s) - the 2020 version sees both Miguel and Future enlisted. The narrative switches and so does the song title, changing the word to a positive acronym (Happiness Over Everything). Future's husky cadence fits perfectly with the track, his guest verse rounding it off.
Chilombo was recorded as a freestyle in Hawaii with Jhené playing traditional singing bowls to give her music a pure tranquil effect. She has also stated that she plans to play the bowls in her upcoming tour: The Magic Hour which has already fully sold out.
