Frank Ocean Catches His Fans By Surprise With New Single 'In My Room'
It is no secret that since the release of Blonde, Frank Ocean seemed to just disappear from the face of the music industry, leaving his fans in desperate need of new music. After countless theories and rumours of new music, this autumn is when Frank Ocean has finally given his fans what they've been craving - it was only a fortnight ago that the elusive singer dropped DHL, but yet after such a long wait, he delivers with 2 tracks in just 2 weeks and has even previewed new music with UK rap superstar Skepta, which has his fanbase's morale at an all time high.

If you were a Frank Ocean fan from 5-6 years ago that had just come out of a coma (or time travelled), I reckon you'd never predict this beat selection - the melodic trap beat is the polar opposite of Frank Ocean classics such as 'Sierra Leone', but it works, partly due to the fact that Frank has always shown his skill on the rap side of things, dropping iconic verses in the Odd Future days (most notably 'Oldie') and more recently his feature on the ASAP Mob track 'RAF', which is probably the closest thing he has done to this track. The spacey, relatively simple production is perfect for Frank (Frank co-produced this too), as it allows him to combine his rap elements and his renowned voice perfectly, without getting drowned out in complex production; this song is a wonderful example of the old saying 'less is more'.
As you can see at the bottom of the artwork, the silhouettes represent a song, and as there are 17, that surely hints to an album - will we be closing the 2010's off with a much needed Frank Ocean album or will we have to wait until 2020?
