Carnival Calendar 2019: the who to see and where to be
Updated: Aug 21, 2019
Ahhh Carnival, the time of year signalling the end of what has been a long, hot summer and what may be your last chance at whining with the love of your life and then posting a low-res picture of them on Twitter trying to figure out their name the next day. There truly is nothing like it. Carnival should no longer be treated like a two-day ordeal separated into Sunday, dubbed the tame 'Children's day' and Monday, which is often noted for its slightly more chaotic energy. It is a celebration of culture, diasporic identity and an opportunity to demonstrate the multi-faceted nature of London's population. So why not extend the festivities and make it a long weekend to remember, with the help of our round up of who to see and where to be for Notting Hill Carnival 2019.
Why wait until Sunday when you can start on Friday? Start your four-day weekend with the carnival pre-party of the year, courtesy of Lord Of The Tings and Mixpak. Expect to hear from some of your favourite DJ's as well as an extra special guest. You don't want to miss out on this one.
For those who want to warm-up before Carnival Day 1, this year you are spoilt for choice as Boiler Room and the Only Jerkin' Sound System have come together with expertise of renowned party collective Prestige Pak to bring you the unofficial Carnival Warm Up.
But wait, there's more...
DJ duo Bossy LDN will be supplying more carnival vibes at their BOSSY LDN Carnival Special which will feature a line-up of some of the capital's best DJ's. See below for the line-up.
Sunday (Day 1)
Looking to continue the party? Head to the Red Rooster in Shoreditch for what has been dubbed 'The Official Carnival Afterparty'.
Monday (Day 2)
End the bank holiday and the carnival festivities the right way with Rinse FM's Carnival After Party at Paradise!
Stay hydrated and stay safe.
What are your carnival traditions and most importantly, can you handle the four-day carnival weekend?
