Originally hailing from West Memphis, Arkansas, 24-year-old Abbey Smith known simply by her stage name YEBBA has been casting a spell on the music industry with her incredibly soulful and unique vocal ability and raw songwriting talent. Now based in New York, YEBBA was first discovered via a performance of her original song 'My Mind' for Sofar Sessions just a week before devastatingly losing her mother to suicide. 'My Mind'' took on a whole new meaning for the artist and the video slowly went viral racking up millions of views on Youtube and catching the attention of Ed Sheeran in the process. Sheeran immediately co-signed the artist after the performance admittedly brought him to tears. Since then YEBBA has been unstoppable having a string of highly credible collaborations, appearing on 'Same Drugs', (Chance The Rapper) 'Melatonin', (A Tribe Called Quest) 'No Peace', (Sam Smith) 'Late Night Feelings', (Mark Ronson) and 'Best Part Of Me' (Ed Sheeran) not to mention winning her first GRAMMY Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance on 'How Deep Is Your Love' with PJ Morton.
Produced by BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Francis and the Lights, Low, Lizzo) 'Where Do You Go' is ambient and enchanting, with YEBBA's lyrics feeling reflective and wistful as she repeatedly asks the question about life after life throughout the song. YEBBA delivers light, emotive and angelic vocals resting on a bed of dream-like resonant synths, slide guitar and minimal percussion. 'Where Do You Go' is most definitely a song that is overflowing with nostalgia and will make you think about love, life and loss. The single is our first real insight into the upcoming debut album which has been kept tightly under wraps and judging by the single we can certainly expect great things to come from YEBBA.
