South East London's Malik Polo Shares New Track 'Change'

Egyptian/Irish rapper, producer and label owner Malik Polo is pushing the boundaries once again with his latest track “Change”.

Following the success of his 2019 debut Jomo, Polo went on to travel to his native Middle East for a few months, eventually returning in 2020 for a collaboration with Puerto Rican producer Ibn Itaka. The alliance has led to a project titled Echo Chambers which is expected to grace our airwaves later this year.

His latest single, our first taste of the forthcoming EP, is an exploration of the blurred lines between virtual and real life – exacerbated by the sudden isolation brought upon us during the pandemic. Through Malik’s waxy flow you can hear the Londoner relay his own battles experienced in this last year.

The visuals for the track, although shot in sultry tones, felt reminiscent of a happy-go-lucky youth spent in London – which doesn’t come without its hardships. Hackney-based director Flora Scott provides a quintessential depiction of the track itself; taking inspiration from French cult-classic, La Haine. Portraying Polo and two friends traversing some of London’s popular hangout spots.
