Shake Off The Winter Blues With Megan Thee Stallion’s Debut Album “Good News”

Houston Hottie Megan Thee Stallion is known for bringing us her ‘Hot Girl summer’ last year but now it’s time for us to get ready to come out of hibernation and have ourselves a hot girl winter instead.

The Houston rapper’s debut ‘Good News’ provides fans with her ice-cold flows and positive energy, taking our attention away from the wearysome negativity circulating the news at the moment. Megan also dropped a music video for her single ‘Body’ filled with steamy visuals from beginning to end, featuring Taraji P. Henson, Jordyn Woods, Blac Chyna, Daren Kyle, Asian Doll, Bernice Burgos, and Maliibu Miitch - despite having already bestowed us with a whole 17 track album.

Remember how ‘Savage’ and the ‘#savagechallenge’ on TikTok kicked off the last lockdown with a trend that got everyone off the sofa and dancing? Megan has kept her voice authentic and flows ice cold in this latest release. The 17-track album features some of the coldest names in the game right now. Including the previously released “Savage Remix” featuring Beyoncé, “Girls in the Hood”, and her latest single - “Don’t Stop” featuring Young Thug. Other contributors include SZA, City Girls, DaBaby, Popcaan, 2 Chainz, Big Sean; and production from Juicy J, Tay Keith, Buddha Bless, Mustard, and more.

2020 has been a huge year for Megan. The Houston Rapper’s debut album follows her successful project ‘Suga’ released in March 2020. Megan amassed over 1.54 billion global streams for this project alone, which featured #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 200 - ‘Savage’; the anthem to our year with a no-f*ks-given attitude. The year also saw her claim five BET Awards, including Hip Hop Artist Of The Year as well as an MTV Video Music Award for ‘Savage’ and an honour in TIME 100. She has also made songs this year with Phony Ppl (“Fkn Around”), Tyga (“Freak”), DaBaby (“NASTY”), Young Dolph (“RNB”), and Cardi B, for certified platinum - “WAP” - most widely acclaimed of all, which received a People’s Choice Award, bringing in over 93 million views in just a week, making it the highest streaming debut week since record began.

Much of Megan’s music appears to be about regaining power from men, a plight for equality. This narrative has been consistent in her music and videos as she constantly finds herself at odds with toxic masculinity within the music industry. In her previous EP her alter ego is “Tina Snow” - a character portrayed as a pimp who’s role attempts to rectify the imbalance when it comes to battling steroetypes in the industry and beyond. The first verse of ‘Go Crazy’ featuring Big Sean and 2 Chainz is testament to this as Megan likens her freestyling on radio stations over the year as a journey to assert her dominance. She mentions ‘Super Saiyan’ - from Japanese manga series Dragon Ball Z - a character who has gone through a transformation and multiplied their own powers; thus, we find she likens her flow to something empowering.

As we descend into the cold winter months Megan has truly delivered us some heat.
