Welcome to Royal's World, a place where opposing musical genres don't exist and everything is on the table. The product of Gospel, Hip Hop, Funk, and Soul, London's own Royal does not shy away from using his voice and pushing it to its limits. This week, somewhere in Hackney, while performing his latest single 'Precious' and his crowd-pleasing banger 'Gutter' his voice was already feeling the strain of the range of high and low notes.
Ultimately, Royal is a musician first and an artist second, as well as a student of music. Opting for live drum recordings compared to a stale mechanical Hip Hop beat, and deep soothing vocals, Royal is already is showing a standard much higher compared to artists making their way into the musical arena. He has done his research, he knows what sounds good and trusts his instincts and the people involved in committing his vision to paper. With a few more tracks tipped to be released before the end of the year (according to our sources), Royal is certainly someone to keep on your radar if you're a fan of music that moves you.
Having already received radio play from the likes of BBC Radio's Jamz Supernova, people are fast catching on to his unique sound. Although both 'Precious' and 'Gutter' came out in 2021 they show such opposing styles and approaches that you'd be forgiven to think they were by two different artists.
When asked about his future, Royal replied 'I just wanna put music out, share it with people and catch a vibe'. Well, we expect many more vibes from what he has in store, offering us soundtracks to different moods and a fresh look at stories that we can all relate to.
