Prodigious Newcomer Shamil Turns Heads With Atmospheric R&B-Infused Single "Sohana"

R&B's rising newcomer, Shamil, is ready to make a statement this summer with his brand new atmospheric release titled, Sohana.

This latest single is gearing up to be a big introduction for the prodigious young artist who is already drawing comparisons to the likes of musical heavy-weights; The Weeknd and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Following the release of his recent single Cola, the Anchorage native has immediately turned heads as the infectious guitar laden instrumental weaves in with his upbeat and catchy melodies, seamlessly breathing a new and refreshing life in the world of Alaskan R&B. At just 21 years-old, the newcomer croons over a trippy and relaxed R&B infused beat, talking on subjects including past relationships and a wild lifestyle in which he was living at the time

Speaking on the single, Shamil commented: “Sohana is about a girl that I was talking to at the time that had a wild lifestyle, yet I was more interested in the person she was than the type of life she lived. My emotions and feelings took over the logic of the situation. Even though I wasn’t into the type of stuff she was into, I really didn’t care. I want people to see how lust and attraction can cloud your decisions and judgement when it comes to certain people.”

Both the track and accompanying visuals were recorded and filmed in the UK's capital, London. Drawing a close connection with the big city, which he expands on in Sohana, he continues: "Sohana is a really special track to me, it was the last track we got done during our London sessions. Having this be the first single off my tape is really crazy! I've been making music for a few years. When we started, my engineer and I would go from house to house in Anchorage just looking for somewhere to record, a couple years later I'm in London working with the people who made the music that shaped me into who I am. I always said I would know when the time is right to drop a project. The moment I knew was when I finished this song."
