Pauli The PSM Releases Moving Visuals For 'Don't Hold Your Breath' ft Tawiah

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

Los Angeles and London-based multifaceted creator Pauli The PSM has released a flowing visual of two dancers for their latest single 'Don't Hold Your Breath Remix' featuring Tawiah. From previously working with Jamie XX and FKA Twigs and Damon Albarn from Gorillaz, Pauli's debut EP The Idea of Tomorrow was able to land the opportunity to open for Sampha's Process LP tour. Amongst all this, Pauli models and is a co-founder and resident DJ for the monthly NYC party BackToLife.

'Don't Hold Your Breath' is an exploration into self-care. In terms of the concept of the track itself, Pauli said: “With coronavirus attacking the respiratory system and the murder of George Floyd where he uttered his final words “I can’t breathe,” we are universally reminded of the importance of our breath and it being the one thing that invariably connects all living beings.”

Directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat, the piece is performed in a very minimal space with flowing white curtains and natural light beaming onto the pair, the performance is moving and showcases the talents of both Pauli and a movement healer. The dreamy RnB track delivers a tender visual where Pauli dances with Nana Yaa, who came from a family of healers. Pauli wanted this piece to reflect the magical healing powers that black women possess and this visual statement is supposed to honour black womxn in his life.
