Obongjayar Shares Brand New Single "God's Own Children"

Obongjayar has returned with a brand new single entitled God's Own Children set to be featured on his forthcoming EP.

After announcing his brand new EP Which Way Forward? dropping on February 7th. Obongjayar, the Nigerian-born,London-based artist has already set the tone of what's to be expected with brand new single God's Own Children. Following up from both Frens and Still Sun, God's Own Children arrives after an industrious 2019. Working alongside artists like Kamasi Washington, Giggs, Sampha and Ibeyi as an integral part of Richard Russell's Mercury Nominated Everything Is Recorded project, Obongjayar also made a guest appearance on Wiki's Elixir with JJ, and appeared on Danny Brown's critically acclaimed uknowhatimsayin¿ album.

Speaking on God's Own Children, Obongjayar commented "God's Own Children is inspired by protests from around the world and the resilience of my generation. It's a reminder that we're all in this together and that this world we inhabit right now is what we're inheriting from the generation passed. If it all goes down it affects all of us and in-turn affects the ones that come after us. There's a realization of that and an active resistance to the suppression and oppression that's happening to us. This song was also inspired by the dance moves coming out of Nigeria which in itself and of its character feels like a form of protest."
