Nakeyo, a Dutch-Nigerian singer & songwriter based in Amsterdam, releases her new single "Dunes" which is an R&B orientated tune ready to capture your ears with her soothing voice and beautiful lyrics. The song is produced by Lawrence Mace, with whom the artist spent years experimenting, recording and arranging. "Dunes" is only a sneak peak of what they have in store for us.
Although born in the Netherlands, she spent the first half of her youth under the African sun, living in Ghana, Zambia and Nigeria. The second half was spent in the Netherlands where she would end up studying music after college. This nomadic lifestyle exposed Nakeyo to music from different cultures which would eventually heavily influence her sound today. Combining this influence with her roots, Nakeyo’s work bounces back and forth between R&B, Hip-Hop, Afro and Pop. Although the stories in her songs revolve around love - be it for oneself, for others or one’s dreams - the recurring underlying themes are vulnerability, self-worth and self-reflection.
