Kiran Kai Calls On Skepta To Help Create His Hazy New Track Entitled “Passports”

Kiran Kai returns after his last release “Evade” featuring Daisy Maybe, with another teaser track ahead of his forthcoming EP titled, “XYZ” which is slated to land on July 3rd.

The London-based producer, songwriter and recording artist, enlisted UK heavyweight Skepta to lend his songwriting and production skills, alongside Ben Baptie to help construct his latest track “Passport”.

The aptly named offering’s smokey instrumental is filled with sizzling snare and the sultry plucks of an electronic guitar, combined with Kai’s melancholy murmurs, sonically transporting you to someone where faraway whilst simultaneously encapsulating the essence of London’s sound.

Believed to be a “love letter” to London, the accompanying visual shows Kai roaming the cities streets throughout the day. Taking off in a vintage BMW, he finds himself treading through steamy parties and some of London’s famous landmarks.

Visual Director Bolade Banjo told Hypebeast, “‘Passports’ explores hibernation as a catalyst for artistic transformation,” Banjo added. “As a meditative practice, it allows for new insights to be gained from the world around us, previously unseen. Re-emergence allows for new roots to be sprung.”
