After dropping his latest album Bubba in December of 2019, it comes as no surprise that Kaytranada is following up with a US tour: yesterday he released 19 dates across North America. However, it does come as an unexpected treat for all to watch the new video released for the lead single off the album, featuring Kali Uchis.
These visuals for 10% are an ode to vibrant ball culture and 70s soul train as we watch Kaytranada himself behind the decks at a party while Uchis’ vocals surf over the beat in a sea of smokers and people having the time of their life. Giving a nod to Black and Latinx members of the LGBTQ+ community who led the ball culture scene dating back as early as 1869, the celebration and representation are much welcomed especially during Black History Month.
The video, directed by Stephen Isaac-Wilson, feels timeless, and exactly what we needed moving into February of 2020, as we start defrosting from our January blues. Watch the video below:
