Free Music Lessons With FutureDJs To Be Hosted By Top DJs And Musicians

Today, a star-studded line-up of musicians and DJs including Drum & Bass figure Goldie MBE, Ghetts (double Ivor Novello nominee), WhyJay and Radio1's DJ Tiffany Calver. They have just announced that they will be collaborating with the in-school music initiative FutureDJs to help inspire and coach students into the music industry by offering free music classes entirely online. This new programme will be launched in the world's first ever virtual music classroom.

As children across the nation are heading back to school, Covid-19 has made a negative impact on the future of learning, with creative subjects including music being limited. By these talented musical stars coming together, FutureDJs alongside Virtuoso are pledging to ensure that all aspiring young musicians across the nation will have access to a music education. These courses will take place weekly, free of charge and hosted by the UK's top artists and teachers as part of the programme.

Whilst being the only online music class to be accredited by The London College of Music, FutureDJs has been working in schools across the UK since 2015. Because DJing and music production were added to the national curriculum, the world's first graded DJ exams were given in partnership with the University of West London. With the demand from students that want to explore different genres such as electronic, rap, grime and learning to MC, most music departments were missing the skills to be able to teach DJing and music production. FutureDJs is here to change that.

The first class will take place on Saturday the 30th of August with Tiffany Calver hosting a DJ workshop at 16:00 and then special guest tutor Ghetts at 19:00. Ghettos’ session will run for one hour which will have the British rapper show students the art of MC-ing including how to structure a lyrical flow. With the weeks ahead to see more top-notch talented teachers, including DJ workshops with Goldie, Danny Howard and Tiffany Calver, plus a production masterclass with WhyJay, a platinum-selling record producer who is also behind the rap sensation Aitch.

FutureDJ courses are open to students of all ages and do not require any equipment or prior experience to join. You can book through the Virtuoso website and each course will be taught by a fully qualified music teacher, with free and more casual classes made available to children from underprivileged backgrounds. By Using the Spotify-affiliated "Soundtrap", the courses will include Music Production, DJ courses, DJ performance and MC courses.
