Emerging Singer-Songwriter Saint Harison Explores Unrequited Love On 'TMF'

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

After coming to attention with his single ‘Homies’ featuring R&B songstress and Grammy award-nominated artist Tiana Major9 rising Southampton-born singer Saint Harison unburdens from a recent heartbreak.

It’s a song that is relatable to anyone who has ever found themselves in a situation where the love isn’t balanced, and with his memorable and mesmerising voice he expertly conveys what he is feeling from in the aftermath of his most romantic encounter on ‘TMF’.

Growing up inspired by the impeccable sounds of Motown, R&B and Pop the track itself is inspired by the earlier 2000s that now act as a base for his artistic talents that we now enjoy.

Electrifying, the track is produced by Deputy, and the soundscape encapsulates the sensuous air of Saint’s vocals. Percussion and rhythmic kickers are paired with the smooth bass guitar played undertone and the thrilling jazz elements.

Saint comes to the realisation that the love he feels is not reciprocated, and it leaves him momentarily suspended as he muses on his own behaviour. He sings “You lost your powers, I lost the hours...ain’t in my nature, I gave you more than deserved..”

However confronting the unrequited lover on their nonchalant behaviour, he, however, cannot find it in himself to leave as he cares too much.

Saint shares: "TMF was a song I just needed to write, to let out. Every song I was writing at the time was such an outpour of emotions, mostly sad vibes and I really felt that energy almost taking over my state of mind. That’s when TMF happened."

"I worked with the producer Deputy on this track, who worked with Rihanna on ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’. I wanted to channel that grit and energy. My mum brought me up on some of the most powerful, unapologetic songs of the 2000s. Growing up with the likes of Missy Elliott, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Pink really all led up to this record.”
