South London's Ego Ella May Releases New EP 'FIELDNOTES PT II

Hailing from South London British-Nigerian award winning singer-songwriter and musician, Ego Ella May, releases her new EP ‘FIELDNOTES PT II’, the continuation to 2021’s critically acclaimed ‘FIELDNOTES’. The talented artist continues to blur the fine lines between the worlds of Soul, Jazz and contemporary R&B into her compositions, the deeply personal five-track EP zooms in on Ego’s experiences with love and relationships.

From the first note Ego Ella May sings she holds us tenderly, in what can only be best described as smoothing and heartfelt.

Leading us down a path as she explores love, she explains “I wrote part two of this project about my observations on my cycles of love. The songs are in order of how things seem to go for me”.

Recently released single ‘Introvert Hotline’ which has 53,335 streams on Spotify was Ego Ella May’s first dose of new music this year, and came after the stand alone single ‘for the both of us’, which she premiered backed by a 42-piece orchestra and televised by BBC Four at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
 

 
It's been a really exciting few months for Ego Ella May since releasing the first part from her stunning 'FIELDNOTES' EP series. She won 'Vocalist of the Year' at the Jazz FM Awards, had a support slot on Joy Crookes UK tour, and wrote for Ari Lennox on her collaboration with Theo Croker, ‘Every Part Of Me’.


 

 
Ego Ella May, channels genre blending R&B and Neo-Soul with a deep respect for Jazz. Her critically lauded debut album, ‘Honey For Wounds’, blended soul-tingling Jazz, R&B and Neo Soul with searingly honest and personal observations about self-healing, protest, love and loss. The release won her the 'Best Jazz Act' award at the 2020 MOBO Awards and that year she also made an impressive debut for COLORS.
 

 
Tracks from the album were also featured in the final season of Issa Rae’s ‘Insecure’, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN series ‘Queen Sugar’, BBC comedy ‘Dreaming Whilst Black’, STARZ’s Run The World’, Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’ and ‘Dear White People’, Channel 4’s ‘Big Age’ and many more.
 

 
With features and collaborations including Maverick Sabre, Lex Amor, Eun, Joe Armon-Jones, Wu-Lu, Andrew Ashong and many more, Ego has the respect of her Jazz and R&B peers.

Her UK Headline Show at Yes, in Manchester on 8th March 2022 was a SOLD OUT event, tickets for her show at the Lafayette is still available.
