Drawing influences from headstrong women within the music industry such as Rina Sawayama, Bree Runway and FKA Twigs, Cariss Auburn has released her latest single 'Float' which surely enough has had us transcending into an ethereal dreamland upon first listen.
Uniquely blending alt-pop and R&B, Cariss Auburn has created a song that emits a powerful energy full to the brim of confidence and talent that portrays an embodiment of soul reminiscent of artists such as Erykah Badu.
Having learnt guitar, Cariss draws inspiration from bands such as Arcade Fire but also Destiny's Child where she describes that they are "behind her interest in playing around with harmonies and different layered vocal arrangements.
With accompanying colourful and hazy visuals showing Cariss adorned in glittering outfits, she effortlessly combines the soulfulness of R&B alongside a captivating vocal that had definitely put Cariss Auburn in a list of ones to watch for the rest of 2021.
