Bugzy Malone frontlines New Era On 'Old Friends'

Sometimes in life, you have to look back to go forward and that's exactly what Bugzy Malone does as he spins the block on his new single ‘Old Friends’ to frontline a new era for the Manchester rapper.

On ‘Old Friends’ Bugzy brings the North-West city closer to our periphery in his latest offering, whilst returning back to basics to the sound we fell in love with. A return to the old to signal something new.

He raps cleanly against emotive piano chords, percussion drums and a soulful sample that explores a nostalgic old-school rap sound, providing a comfortable space for us to witness our favourite version of Bugzy with introspection and awe-inspiring storytelling.

His poetic lyricism and creative world play create a vivid and emotive picture as he dedicates the track to past friends and confronts the reasoning behind his complex relationship with his city.

He thinks about being on the road and hints at the reasoning behind it he raps Wilmslow Road in my 110's / I write the words in Strangeways like it's a cold pen/ Crown court magistrates, I really know them / But do they know why I had to throw my old knife /On a cold night, I was a low-life."

The accompanying music video for ‘Old Friends’, directed by WHATSESAYING, takes a nostalgic approach that reflects the mood of the track. You see the streets of Manchester as Bugzy Malone knows it, the places that have shaped him into the person he is.

He has also announced that his upcoming album The Great British Dream will be out next month, where you can find his latest Daily Duppy and last two singles ‘Ladies’ and ‘Ghetto Wisdom’.
