André 3000 has returned with a verse for iconic Atlanta group Goodie Mob’s ‘No cigar’, making an appearance for the first time this year since his guest feature on Anderson.Paak’s ‘Come Home’ released back in April 2019.
Goodie Mob’s long-awaited sixth studio album ‘Survival Kit’ released on 13/11/20 brings back (almost) all of the old Dungeon Family crew with Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Big Boi, and André 3000. The group offer their own ‘survival kit’ when it comes to confronting this years onslaught of challenges. The 16-track project comes seven years after their previous release ‘Age Against The Machine’, and is produced by Organized Noize crew - made up of Sleepy Brown, Rico Wade, and Ray Murray. Goodie Mob’s 1995 debut album ‘Soul Food’ is unquestionably one of the most classic hip hop albums of all time.

‘No Cigar’ is arguably one of the better tracks to come from Goodie Mob’s release; featuring André’s relaxed yet firm delivery, and his slightly off-beat flow. The song’s lyrics don’t have as much depth as the rest of the album. André does, however, address his long-standing relationship with Goodie Mob in his verse;
“Three hard like a saw, nothin' goodie but Mob
Under the steps and dirt, there was a dungeon, no floor”.
As a member of former hip hop duo OutKast (made up of André 3000 and Big Boi), André has collaborated frequently with Goodie Mob over the years. Their partnership dates back to their roots in Atlanta at the start of the ‘90s when Dungeon Family was created. André’s solo rapping career primarily comes from distinguished features - even in recent years - having collaborated with the likes of Drake, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi and many, many more. Although, André did make one solo appearance on SoundCloud in 2018 with his EP ‘Look Ma, No Hands’ and ‘Me&My’ as a tribute to Mother’s Day.
