Alaskan R&B Newcomer Shamil Returns With Pop-Tinged Record “OTL.”

Continuing to build on the success of his predecessor “Sohana,” Shamil returns with new record entitled “OTL.”

Serving an upbeat synth-assisted offering that see’s the singer step into the shoes of a person who does not want to be romantically pursued. The production combined with Shamil’s pop-inflected vocals are also somewhat reminiscent of The Weekend’s most recent work.

Speaking on the track, Shamil states: "OTL" stands for "On The Low"; it's a song about unrequited love told from the opposite perspective set to a chill synth pop beat; I was inspired to write it because of a situation I was involved in where to outsiders it would've seemed that I was the bad guy but in reality there are 2 sides to every story and I wanted to highlight that while putting people into the space I was in being responsible for someone else's feelings.”

With Shamil’s forthcoming project The After Party drawing closer, it looks as though it will be a very promising year for the 21-year-old. Who boldly represents the future of black music, while merging and moulding genre’s to create his very own sonic.
