Album: Piink 2 by Lancey Foux

Updated: Dec 20, 2023

Lancey Foux recently released his latest project ‘Piink 2’ on the 6th of July as the sequel to his Debut 2015 project that established him in the UK underground scene as an artist to watch. This project is one that highlights the experimentation that Lancey’s music is synonymous with, a lack of fear to use his vocals as an instrument, similar to the likes of Young Thug and Lil Uzi Vert. The 14-track album spanning over 38 minutes are concise sonic projects that tap into the artistry of the artist and his potential.

The features on this project are limited to Skepta and lil Gnar, allowing Lancey to express his perspective on this record to the fullest. The Skepta featured record ‘Dyed 2WICE’ is an energetic record that fuses the sound of both artists in an easily digestible manner. Lancey Foux is definitely occupying a unique position within the UK music scene and has a sound that cannot easily be constrained to a particular region, his music is the soundtrack to a lifestyle that takes his listeners to a colourful and vibrant mental space and excellent to create the right energy in a concert/performance setting. His ability to construct melodies and carry a consistent sonic direction in his music is very evident in this project, no matter how scattered the subject matter may be.

However, one of the records with the most consistent narrative of Lancey Foux telling his story and aiming to keep pushing to chase his dreams is ‘Never Pause’, one of our favourites on the album. This project gives us great excitement towards his next moves within the industry and the records to come. This project shows his willingness to take risks with his sound, which is very commendable, and If you have been previously unaware of Lancey Foux’s music we believe this album is a good beginning to understand what he brings to the music scene, in the UK and beyond.
